Lucy SalgadoKeymasterOur issue with our home institution is that that do not notify the students in a timely manner. Once we decide who we like to extend a rotation to, I take the liberty of informing the students what rotation we are offering them and let them know that our home intuition will send them the official acceptance notification. This has helped so we don’t miss out on a good student possibly rotating with us.

We had to restructure the educational opportunities for our residents due to this issue. We are now sending our PGY2 to AO Basic Course in order to take advantage of the funding.

That depends on your GME dept. Per our GME, our residents need to pass step 3 by the end of their PGY2 year. Otherwise, their annual contract will not be provided to them. Talk to your PD. Placing the residents on study plan can be helpful.

I was told by David Elstein from ABOS that they will send an email to all PGY 1s, probably in August introducing the ABOS to them as well as what the ABOS KSB Program is and how to log in.

we give our residents 15 vacation and 5 educations days. For those doing fellowship interviews, we provide them an additional 5 days. After their 5 additional days are used, they are required to use their education and/or vacation days.
Lucy SalgadoKeymasterAt Loyola, we provide them a stipend that is required to be used towards our mandatory assigned courses and books. We also provided additional funding if they are presenting. We do not cover loupes or step 3. We apply for funding for the AO basic courses as well.

Our senior residents are in charge of making the weekly schedules for their services. I am included on the weekly schedules being sent out via email.

Our program at Loyola University is still virtual while a lot of faculty would like to go back to in person. Luckily our institution is giving us the opportunity to do either or. We hope to be back to in person next interview season.

I had the same issues at our institution. I had to reach out to that program’s coordinator to help with their refund in order for J&J Depuy to look at our application. It also seems that J&J Depuy are no longer offering grants for PGY1 this year. At least that’s what I was told. Not sure if anyone else had that issue.
Lucy SalgadoKeymasterOur residency interviews will be virtual. Our hand fellowship PD has yet to decide on virtual or in-person.
