We give ours Pendleton Woolen Mills blankets. We are in Oregon, and there is a Crater Lake one. This year, we will be having them embroidered with the graduates name and date.

Amy, I also don’t know and am in a similar boat. If you learn anything, I would love to have you share it.

We have a sort of non traditional gift. We give out a femur bone that is signed by each of the faculty members and then we put the bone in a glass display case. I always wondered if people liked it or not, and then I was contacted by a former resident who said his was lost in a move and wanted to know if he could pay us to get another one!
Our Alumni Association also gives the graduates a fleece jacket, hat, and pin upon being inducted into the Alumni Association.

Don’t forget to update your ARCOS Website profile with a photo and more information. Someone might be looking to connect with you and is not sure that is YOU!
    Have a lovely weekend!!

We give each grad a “Tree of Andry” sculpture. Here is the link:

The artist is very easy to work with and while he charges a total of $500 each they are super-well packaged to prevent damage.
    I attached a photo.

We also give engraved captains chairs and in the past with the chair gave them a framed class photo with their class motto along with a tie or scarf with our department logo on it. This year we are keeping the chairs & tie but replacing the photo with a framed personalized Iowa jerseys for each graduating resident.

We give our graduates the captain’s chair and I also get the impression they are not thrilled with these as well but it is a tradition. I would also be interested in what other programs give instead of the chairs.

We give them engraved captains chairs and engraved diploma frames. I am looking to change this as many of our graduates are no longer thrilled about this. Interested to hear what other programs are doing.

We use Blackboard in our department for a variety of educational purposes. It is a very useful tool for storing videos, releasing quizzes, and uploading articles. Let me know what other questions you may have.

    Vicky,
Maybe I’m being Captain Obvious and you’ve already tried this, but can your Hospital/Univ Library help you?
They know a lot about books, I understand. 😉

We have not done this in recent years only due to time constraints (imagine that) but it has always been well received by both interviewers and interviewees. It is sent out before Match Day. I think it helps to have some humor within the serious items. We are a low key, get things done, kind of residency so having our interview Meet and Greet at a local pub is just how we roll. I used Survey Monkey.
    Hope this helps!
