We do a video supplemental application. I send the link out in late October and usually give them one week to complete. We tell them if they don’t complete it that’s okay since it’s a tight turnaround.

My PD asked me the other day if we could make our supplemental application required, but I wasn’t sure if there were any NRMP rules against this. I’ve been looking today, but so far can’t find anything saying we couldn’t do this, unless I’m overlooking it?

I can’t remember where I saw it now, but I saw something that Ortho wasn’t participating in the geographic preference option this year. I know I saw it on the AAMC website when I was thinking of attending one of their webinars on it, but don’t remember if CORD ever sent anything out. My institution blinds everything until we have our invitation list anyway, so I just glanced at it and moved on!

    Institutional Requirements: https://www.acgme.org/programs-and-institutions/institutions/institutional-application-and-requirements/

I glanced through them and didn’t see anything about required to be paid, just “sufficient support and dedicated time”

You’re welcome! I also have my trackers spread all over the place. I’ve considered putting them all in one folder, but I’m used to having them all over! I’ve also attached my absence tracker. We do absences via Qgenda now that we have it for our call schedule, so I use this less than I used to. I use my ABOS tracker a little more for the absence tracker part of things now, but sometimes it is good to see it all in one place!

I combined a few of my trackers into this one excel. I usually have my OITE separate from ABOS (once they graduate, I move them from OITE to ABOS!). The resident personnel tabs I keep in an excel all their own and have it password protected since it has their SSN’s (I move all their personal info over to my alumni excel once they graduate, except for the SSN’s which I delete!). We’re trying to figure out a better way to track our research, right now I only track it if they get it accepted for podium/poster through my financial budget tracker.

    Hi Holly,

I just had the same issue with the browser freezing for one of my residents today. I called the IT support line and they had me use CTRL, Shift, Q to exit out of the browser and then relaunch. Thankfully that’s been the only one today and that fix worked!

We take 10 rotators/month for July-November. We usually have all spots filled by June 1, so there’s no way we could require our Step 2 score minimum for the away rotation like we do for interviews. We usually end up with 1 or 2 that are below our minimum score. We added a supplemental video application this year for our away rotators, which my reviewing faculty have loved.

Thank you! I gave up after 15 minutes, reverted to the teacher isn’t here after 15 so class is cancelled rule 🙂

Yes, my intern did FMLA earlier this year, so that’s why I did a letter to the ABOS because she was under the 46 weeks and the new RRA wasn’t up and running yet!

    Hi Anna,

I reported the time away from the program. One of my PGY1’s was on maternity leave and missed her 4 week peds ortho and 4 week skills rotations. The skills were just made up with extra teaching through the end of the year. I reported 20 weeks of ortho and then in question 4 I just copied what I put in the letter we had to send to the ABOS earlier this year explaining her FMLA and our plan to make up the deficit. In her case, it’s 4 weeks of ortho that she’s missing which she’ll make up by averaging at least 46 and no more than 50 weeks of education over the course of her PGY2-5.

    Hope that helps!

I didn’t get the email, but my PD did, and neither one of us can see the report.
