Honor GiffordParticipantHi Lauren,
We have a master spreadsheet with tabs for the rotation schedule, call at each location, education (including attendance at education conferences), holidays, time off, and faculty contact information. The administrative chief is responsible for the spreadsheet and tabs. The spreadsheet is shared in google docs and a few of the tabs are restricted so that only the admin chief can edit it. I am, hopefully, attaching the template.

Honor GiffordParticipantLast year, I used a survey to help get real-time data. The results were downloaded to an Excel sheet, and I was able to sort the applicants by their score.

Honor GiffordParticipantCongratulations, Annie!!!
Honor GiffordParticipantFrom my PD, ortho is in a study regarding geographic preferences, so it is screened for everyone.
Honor GiffordParticipantHi Allyson,
My understanding is that institutions can implement screens. It is possible that all our institutions have screened out geographic preferences. Although that would be kind of incredible.
Honor GiffordParticipantThank you for the link, Cindy. I shared that with my PD.
Yes, it is hard to believe that recruitment season is already here. It seems like yesterday was graduation.
I am surprised and perhaps a little disappointed to learn that programs that require three letters are not considering applicants who happen to submit four letters.
Honor GiffordParticipantTo the administrator from Vanderbilt,
Thank you for sharing your template! I love it. I have a lot of things in that spreadsheet but spread out over numerous sheets.
Missy,
I love excel!! I’d be happy to give a training session.
My chiefs manage vacations and created the spreadsheet I have attached to track vacations. I hope this helps.

Honor GiffordParticipantHi Kierstin,
We, Johns Hopkins pay for their loupes and a lead apron when they finish intern year. We do assist financially with an AO Basic and Advanced course, or another course they are interested in taking. BUT, they need to work with me to apply for an education grant to assist with payment for registration, travel, hotel, and other expenses. Here is a link to get started with the grant, Education Grants & Fellowships | DePuy Synthes | J&J MedTech US.

Honor GiffordParticipantA PD I worked with in another program stepped down after almost 30 years. I used this website, Memory Book Online | Collaborative Memory Books | Newlywords. to create a book of memories and sent it to our alumni. They uploaded pictures and wrote comments in the book. You do have the ability to edit what they have written (I had to correct several notations about retirement as he wasn’t retiring) and I could move things around so, for example the picture would be on the left page and what the author wrote could be on the right page. I was able to save a copy in a PDF as well as print a copy and we gave it to him at a reception at the society meeting.
Honor GiffordParticipantHi Lashun,
Do you need a room or are you offering to share your room?
Honor
Honor GiffordParticipantHi everyone,
Thank you so much for sharing your attestation/acknowledgment documents and best practices with me. I really appreciate all the help. 🙂
I wish everyone a happy interview and holiday seasons.
Honor
Honor GiffordParticipantThank you, Bonnie and Sarah.
Sarah, I love that idea and will do that now for part 2 of testing on Thursday.
Honor GiffordParticipantHi Sarah,
We started testing today, and I had the residents go to the secure browser. They had no issues taking the test.
I don’t recall having to give them their AAOS ID last year (this is technically the first year I’ve run the test as I had just started with the program before the test). Are you all sending the residents their AAOS ID ahead of time or giving it to them the day of? I have 30 residents taking the test Thursday and I don’t think it would be timely to go around the room giving each resident their number.
Honor
Honor GiffordParticipantI wonder if someone forwarded the link via email it would work for another person. If anyone needs the link let me know and I’ll forward it to you.
Honor
Honor GiffordParticipantThank you, Annie! I have a much better understanding.
Fortunately, I’ll be 5 hours behind the East Coast, so I can flip the switch when I wake up. 🙂
