I am following this thread. We have our first resident taking maternity in our program this year. I will have to report next year and plan to deduct the weeks of leave.
@Mara Sweet – I didn’t know we had to do a letter to the board for a leave? Do you know where I can find the details on that?
Hi Melissa, Thank you for your quick response. We do both the SLOR and a narrative letter. Even if we just did the SLOR we still feel it necessary to write a good amount in the comments.
We are getting a new PD too. Our new PD was not an APD previously. We are pending approval from GME but I believe it should not be an issue. Hope this helps!
How many LORs should be from Adult Reconstruction surgeons? <b>We do not have a set requirement for this. It is preferred that they come from Adult Recon Surgeons but any surgeon will do. </b>
Is one LOR from the resident’s PD required? Not required but I think it is helpful.
I was literally going to post the same thing today! We too are revamping our leadership structure. I am looking for PD and APD job descriptions. Bonus points if you have two APDs and have set up term limits for the positions.

University of Miami mandated virtual interviews this year. We are not doing them in person. I don’t think AOSSM can mandate in person interviews. They can make recommendations but it is ultimately up to the institution to decide.

We send our residents to the Miller Review Course in May. We require our Chief’s to take their last two weeks (6/17-6/30) as vacation. They get 4 weeks a year so that means that they only get two weeks throughout the year to use.
Good Morning, Sorry, I don’t have a PowerPoint. We do a short live training for both Duty Hours and Case Logs. We also have senior residents present to help out during the training.
