Hi Jessica,

Our Institution uses VSLO for applicants to apply for a rotation. When on a one-month rotation each student will do one weekend of call and they will do a presentation at the end of rotation.

We do not bring our rotators back for an interview, so we make sure they understand the rotation is the interview. They will meet for a 10 min interview with the PD and APD.  They are assigned Ortho books when they start the rotation, we let them know the evaluation will not be released until the books are returned.

At UF we always do in-person (2 days) Friday and Saturday to accommodate call.

Thank you, Laura. We tried that but with 20 residents we think that is why patients stop scrolling to find the resident.

I think if the survey is anonymous with no patient information using google forms or Microsoft forms should be compliant. UF being a safety net hospital makes it quite challenging.

 

I think my best avenue is the QR on the resident badge and just enforce they should get a minimum of 1 a rotation.

We did the QR codes through Canvas an Institutional license, just took you straight to the fill in form.

I would be interested in any comments as well. We also tried paper evaluations in clinic/OR that is not consistent and cannot get the staff on board.

At University of Florida – Jacksonville, we purchase Loupes (one-time). We fund one course for PGY2 -5, I apply for the grant for the AO basic and we give a $150 stipend towards lead glasses and $150 stipend towards books. Each resident gets ResStudy and Orthobullets for the 5 years.

I had the same issue with getting an “OK” but nothing in order summary.

I spoke with the registration team last night. The Order Summary is a work in progress and does not work for this year.

They said if you got an “OK” from selecting your student you must then fill out the form and submit to customerservice@aaos.org. for payment if you need an invoice to have a check mailed. I did this last night and received an invoice within a half hour.

Thank you for asking this question, my PD has inquired what others offer as well.

Our residents receive a $150 stipend for books in the PGY 1 year. They usually spent it on a study bank for Step 3.
$150 stipend for lead glasses.
We purchase loupes , not lead.

PGY 2-5 are allowed one conference a year, the travel budget is adjusted depending on registration and location. Does not exceed $2k. If they get accepted to present a poster we issue a $500 stipend towards travel.

We do not have a wellness budget, and our institution supplies coffee, juice, snacks in the call quarters for all residents.
The residents will plan events for two 5th Fridays a year, but we do not cover the costs.
We supply (3) sets of scrubs and coats, after that it is self pay unless we have left over money.
With Covid this year, we did not spend our graduation budget so we bought new scrubs and coats for everyone.
