We send our PGY2s to AO Trauma Basic and pay all expenses associated with the course – registration, flight, lodging, per diem, ground transportation. We also send our PGY5s to AAOS and pay all expenses. In addition, we pay for the AAOS Board Review Course for our PGY5s. It is a virtual course, so we just pay for registration for that course.
Thank you,
Robin
Robin SasaokaParticipantHello,
I’ve attached the ILP form that we ask residents to complete for their 6-month evaluations.
Thank you!

Our numbers are down by almost 200 applications this year, so it seems like signaling is working!

Robin SasaokaParticipantOregon Health & Science University will be doing virtual interviews.
Robin SasaokaParticipantOur residents use institutional DEA numbers.
Robin SasaokaParticipantI mentioned this issue to our Program Director last week, and he has emailed Maria directly to let her know that our program currently doesn’t have an available space for in-person proctoring due to COVID distancing restrictions. He also indicated that it is unrealistic to offer the remote proctoring only on one day, since we have residents on call who would not be able to test at that time. He requested at least a 3 day window for residents to take the OITE remotely. The majority of the residents would take the test Saturday, and our weekend on-call residents would take the test Monday so they could get some sleep on Sunday. That is the schedule we’ve used for in-person proctoring in previous years.
Robin SasaokaParticipantOver the weekend, our hospital (OHSU in Portland, Oregon) announced that they are prohibiting all business-related travel, domestic and international. Personal travel is not affected.
Robin SasaokaParticipantHi Renee,
I’ve attached a file which outlines our policy regarding educational expenses. In addition to what is covered in the policy, we purchase loupes for all of our residents during their intern year, and we pay for everyone to have access to Orthobullets and JBJS Clinical Curriculum. We also support two PGY-4 residents to attend the AOA Resident Leadership Forum each year and, beginning this year, we support two residents to attend the ORS Grantsmanship Course.
Thanks very much,
Robin Sasaoka
