Katrina GabatParticipantHi all,
This is our first year having an unaccredited fellow graduating from our department and we wanted to see if there are any other unaccredited ortho fellowship programs who would be able to advise who signs their graduation certificates/certificates of completion and who provides the official seal. Since our fellowship is unaccredited, our Office of Academic Affairs and The Fellowship Council are unable to sign the certificates or provide their seal on the diploma.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Courtney MatlachKeymasterHi Katrina,
Our residency diplomas are signed by the president/CEO of our hospital, the dean of our medical school, the chair of our department, and the program director. I have unaccredited fellows as well and the same people who sign for residency have signed for the fellows.

Laurel LewisKeymasterHi Katrina, here’s another viewpoint…
Our trauma fellowship is accredited by the OTA. We use the OTA logo and our institution logo (WellSpan) on the certificate. We have our Program Director, VP of the Ortho Service Line, Director of Medical Education, and the president of the hospital sign. Since the program director determines whether the fellow is competent to graduate their signature would be the most important.

Kim ReisingKeymasterHi Katrina,
We had a similar situation years ago. We created a certificate using our private practice’s logo and the medical center’s logo. Then both the program director and chair of our department signed the certificate. We did not have an official seal to use on the certificate.
