Jennifer PoloParticipantThe University of Missouri–Kansas City is pleased to offer a 1-year, fully funded Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship beginning Summer 2028. We invite motivated residents to explore a program designed to deliver operative experience, comprehensive clinical training, and meaningful team coverage that prepares fellows for successful careers in academic or private practice sports medicine.
Fellows gain advanced experience in the evaluation and management of athletic injuries, with extensive exposure to articular cartilage preservation procedures (including MACI), meniscal transplantation, osteotomy, complex meniscal injury treatment, and advanced arthroscopic techniques of the hip, elbow, ankle, and shoulder.
Applicants must be graduates of an ACGME-accredited orthopaedic residency program in the United States or Canada and be Board Certified or Board Eligible.
This fellowship is under the leadership of Dr. Christopher Shaw, a respected Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Surgeon and Fellowship Program Director within the University of Missouri–Kansas City Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures of the shoulder, knee, and hip, providing comprehensive care to athletes and active patients. Known for his commitment to surgical excellence and evidence-based practice, Dr. Shaw is dedicated to training the next generation of sports medicine surgeons through structured mentorship, high-level operative experience, and team coverage opportunities.
