Tammy L. SmithParticipantDoes anyone have a maternity leave policy they would be willing to share? Thank you in advance.

Vicky NortonParticipantFollowing – Would this leave policy be Institutional based, or are programs allowed to have their own leave policy?

InactiveThe ABMS has devised the American Board of Medical Specialties Policy on Parental, Caregiver and Medical Leave During Training that is to go into effect July 1, 2021. I have attached the file here for your review.

Tammy L. SmithParticipantThank you so much for the AMBS leave policy, this is great to start from.
Vicki we were thinking specifically for our program, our university has a general leave policy that includes maternity leave, we wanted a leave specific to maternity.

Helen WomackParticipantHere is our hospital policy that our residents follow, but it’s up to the PD of each specialty to decide how much time is made up.
Paid leave for parents to care for and bond with their child, up to age 18, who is a newly added member of the teammate’s family through birth, adoption or legal placement
For all teammate parents:
- Four consecutive weeks paid leave for parents
For teammates who give birth:
- A combined total of six consecutive weeks of paid leave for birth mothers (combining paid parental leave and additional time for recovery)

InactiveHello Helen,
Does this include regular paid time off and sick leave? Sorry just trying to see the whole package.
Thank you!

Helen WomackParticipantHello,
For Maternity leave, both parents get to keep their sick or vacation time. My company and Short Term Disability make up the 100% pay while parents are out bonding/healing with child. I’ve attached our detailed policy.
