My PD asked me to gather data on R4’s and their fellowship interviews with regards to other programs.
Do you have a specific number of fellowship interviews you recommend your residents try and attend? Do you allow them to go to as many as they want? Do you make them count the time away towards their vacation time? Do you have any specific rules/policies with regards to interviews?

    Any information helps.
    Thank you,
    Jess

We give the R4’s 6 days to go to interviews. Any more than that is taken out of their vacation time.

We allow the PGY-4s 7 interview weekdays. Anything over 7 days becomes vacation time.

I am a Fellowship Coordinator and in the middle of our interview season. I asked the candidates how many interviews they attend and they stated between 6-10. The candidates have to pay for travel expenses and it’s costly. Our program pays for the hotel stay.

    Hello,

Our program doesn’t limit the residents to the number of interviews they go on. Any days off for this is counted towards vacation. On average our residents take about 7-10 days off to interview.

We do not limit the number of interviews they can attend, however any time away must come out of their vacation time which is 20 days.
