Maia KnoxKeymasterHello everyone!
Fellowship coordinators, primarily Sports Medicine ones-do you provide any kind of printed ‘informational booklet’ about your Program at interviews? Or electronically ahead of the day, via email? I have been providing a 30ish page printed one the day of our interview for 12 years, and even though I update it every year, and even revamp it as things change (institutions’ logo, colors, etc.), I feel it is wasted time, money, paper, etc… For some reason, I also feel I put too much information in this booklet, like our benefits package, and most of the information we already have on our website… So my question is: am I the only one still doing this? Have you all moved on to either no booklet, or some type of electronic information sent ahead, or you use your website only, or do some of you still provide a printed document at the interview? TIA!

Lee Ann FinnoParticipantHi Maia,
We provide a booklet that is updated every year. I think it is worthwhile for applicants to have something tangible including benefits etc. as they return home and after completion of all interviews so they can weigh options. Electronic information is great but I think better to have hard copy of the important information.
Thanks,
Lee Ann Finno

Jennifer PoloParticipantWe are a very reduce, reuse, recycle forward fellowship program and refer applicants to our website. It is guaranteed to be the most up-to-date information as well.

Sarah LangParticipantI send out some details through SF Match after they have accepted in the invitation including the required policies, benefits, and case logs. At the interviews, I have a handout approximately 3 pages with the basics, mostly all the attendings, ortho managers, fellows, and my name, just so they have something to write on while there.

Marie DiNardoParticipantWe have a handbook that is updated yearly that includes a listing of our schools that the fellows would potentially cover, ATC listing, and basic information about the year and what to expect. This is presented via PowerPoint on interview day. I send the GME policy, sample residency agreement, and other standard information through SF Match or Thalamus (depending on the program). I also provide a paper copy of the faculty members that they will be interviewing with the day of, so they can take notes if needed. Overall, most of my documents are sent electronically. We used to provide them with a folder with all of this information, but this was time consuming and not efficient.
