    Hi Kierstin,

We, Johns Hopkins pay for their loupes and a lead apron when they finish intern year. We do assist financially with an AO Basic and Advanced course, or another course they are interested in taking. BUT, they need to work with me to apply for an education grant to assist with payment for registration, travel, hotel, and other expenses. Here is a link to get started with the grant, Education Grants & Fellowships | DePuy Synthes | J&J MedTech US.

A PD I worked with in another program stepped down after almost 30 years. I used this website, Memory Book Online | Collaborative Memory Books | Newlywords. to create a book of memories and sent it to our alumni. They uploaded pictures and wrote comments in the book. You do have the ability to edit what they have written (I had to correct several notations about retirement as he wasn’t retiring) and I could move things around so, for example the picture would be on the left page and what the author wrote could be on the right page. I was able to save a copy in a PDF as well as print a copy and we gave it to him at a reception at the society meeting.

    Hi Lashun,

Do you need a room or are you offering to share your room?

    Thank you, Bonnie and Sarah.

Sarah, I love that idea and will do that now for part 2 of testing on Thursday.

    Hi Sarah,

We started testing today, and I had the residents go to the secure browser. They had no issues taking the test.

I don’t recall having to give them their AAOS ID last year (this is technically the first year I’ve run the test as I had just started with the program before the test). Are you all sending the residents their AAOS ID ahead of time or giving it to them the day of? I have 30 residents taking the test Thursday and I don’t think it would be timely to go around the room giving each resident their number.

Thank you, Annie! I have a much better understanding.

Fortunately, I’ll be 5 hours behind the East Coast, so I can flip the switch when I wake up. 🙂

    Hi Annie,

Does the attached look right to you?

I’m so disappointed I have to change it on the 19th as I will be on vacation. 🙁

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,

We haven’t looked at any USMLE scores for our audition rotation. We start taking students in June and stop in November. There is no way we can require a step 2 score before we accept them.

I paid for ResStudy, ROCK, and the OITE in July. I did email customor service to confirm they have the payment noted.

The AAOS did not have me listed as the PC and I did not get any of the emails that were sent to PCs about residents graduating, coming into our program, or about the OITE. Sigh!

    Hi Sarah,

Johns Hopkins has a system-wide policy regarding parental leave. Here is a link to it: newchildaccommgradandpostdoc.pdf (jhu.edu).
