ParticipantOur PD of 17 years retired in February. Our Medical Media Specialist and I put together a photobook of group photos, graduation pics and a page from each class he graduated. It took some gathering of pictures (emailing the alumni) and digging through old files, but the book was great! We had blank pages so that people could write notes, and we asked the alumni to sign on their pages. My plan was to use Shutterfly to print the book, but the MMS knew of another company. It was a hit! We were able to use Shutterfly Albums to share the photos with everyone as well.

ParticipantOur residency uses one full didactic day and has every resident participate in Mock Oral Exams. Interns present one case, PGY2-4 present two cases, and PGY5 present one case in their specialty and one case not necessarily in their specialty. Faculty from specialty areas (Hand, Foot & Ankle, Sports, Trauma, Pediatrics, etc.) have assigned rooms and a schedule of residents. The residents prepare a PowerPoint for each case and have 15 minutes to present and answer questions. One faculty collects all score sheets and compiles scores and comments. We include this in the end of year meetings and Summative Evaluations.
The residents love and hate Mock Oral day, but it definitely prepares them for future exams.
