Hello!
I have been tasked to find out how can we go about hosting a Meeting/Conference/Seminar here in Fort Worth about Women in Orthopaedics. We are wanting to invite various female orthopedic surgeons to speak about their respective practices. We think this would be beneficial for us to have as a residency program both from a networking perspective and an educational perspective.
Has anyone’s residency program done something like this before? I would appreciate any advice you can give to help me jump-start this. I have never put on a meeting/conference/seminar like this before, so I am super excited to be a part of this! 🙂
Thank you,
Ramona Guyden, Orthopaedic Residency Coordinator

One of our previous fellows, Dr. Monica Payares was recently recognized and added to the AAOS Board for her work with women in orthopedics, especially the Latino community. Would you like me to give her your information? Perhaps she could give you some feedback or even attend?
She is at Miami’s Childrens Hospital (Nicklaus Foundation) or you can reach out to her and tell her that I referred you.

Yes, please that would be great. My email is RGuyden@jpshealth.org
I happened to look up Dr. Monica Payares and read she is a pedi ortho doctor, which is awesome because the faculty member I am trying to help organize this with works at Cook Childrens Medical Center here in Fort Worth and she is also a pedi ortho doctor.
THANK YOU!

CraigParticipantAt UVA Ortho we have partnered with The Perry Initiative and invited medical students and undergrads and have reached out to other parts of the state. It was a wildly successful program. We are hosting our second Women in Ortho Perry Initiative program this year.
