Good Afternoon All,
We have a upcoming 10-Year Self Study site visit. I was wondering if any programs have been through this process already and if so any advice?
Thank you,
Jennifer

I have not had a 10-year self study yet, but I would refer you to resources that are available on the ACGME website, for example, https://www.acgme.org/What-We-Do/Accreditation/Self-Study. https://www.acgme.org/What-We-Do/Accreditation/Site-Visit/Eight-Steps-to-Prepare-for-the-10-Year-Accreditation-Site-Visit, but you may have already done that!!! 🙂
Second, I would reach out to the field representative to see what they prefer in regards to any items that you may question. I found our site visitor for initial accreditation to be firm but fair and very willing to answer my questions. I specifically wanted to know if I could present my paperwork Electronically so we could view it together on a big screen. She was fine with that and only wanted me to email the files and print just a few items.
I hope we have some people in membership that can give you some pearls of wisdom on this forum. I don’t know that many programs have had this kind of site visit yet. One other suggestion would be to reach out to another program coordinator in your institution who has had a site visit. I know I will be picking the brain of our Emer Med Coordinator-I heard their visit went great!
Best wishes, Jennifer and feel free to reach out to me via email if I can help llewis8@wellspan.org

Back by popular demand, a panel has been assembled to prepare us for the inevitable Self Study and Site Visit. On hand will be Dr Lee Segal and Dr William Robertson, members of the ACGME Accreditation Field Staff.
So bring all your questions and we can all learn about this together…as someone said recently about their site visit, “I know I will have a million questions when my time comes!”

We just completed our 10 year site visit and it went very well. You will get an email with documentation requesting everything that is needed. As long as you submit the documentation on time, as well as, have the documentation needed for the actual day. It’s really not bad. I felt very good throughout all. Just be organized and create binders according to what is requested on the documentation. The information needed prior to the visit can be extremely time consuming.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE NEW ACGME BLOCK DIAGRAM. We used it, however, I was told many aren’t and are getting “dinged” for it.
Make sure you have transcripts of up to date CME training for Attendings, Updated CV for PD in ADS, updated Licensure info in ADS for all Faculty.
You will need your Self-Study that was submitted to compare against what changes you have made since submittal and aims/goals. You will also need to prepare a “Summary of Achievements”. They will have all these templates with the email sent showing detailed instructions. I will say I did 90% myself and came in on weekends.
Please make sure evaluations are in order and how your team evaluates Residents.
Please note that the request for your program may be different. However, I will give you some info below to get an idea.
I hope this helps.
Donna
