Does your program have a travel policy for residents who are presenting at a national meetings in regards to travel allowance?  We have not had a budget in the past for travel, however we are considering putting a maximum travel allowance reimbursement in place.  We are wondering what other programs offer.

    Thank you.

    Hi Tammy!

Our institution provides $1500 to our PGY2-PGY5 residents yearly that they should primarily use to either attend a conference or present at a conference. If they are presenting original research or a case series, they may also apply for our institution’s Time and Travel award. The award pays $1500 for expenses to present at a national conference, or $500 to present at a regional conference. It also provides an additional 3 conference days – two travel days and one day to present. Expenses allowed for reimbursement include airfare, conference host hotel, and per diem based on the government per diem rates posted on gsa.gov.
