Hello,
we are thinking about creating two teams of residents and rotating them in and out of our primary location so we always have backup physicians. Has anyone done this and if so, could you share the model or schedule?
thank you. Keep Safe.
Best,

UNMMarch 17, 2020 at 4:31 pm #2030Stacey WilsonParticipantHere is what we are doing. We have called back all residents at other sites.
The residents will be divided in 4 teams
PGY 5, PGY 4, PGY 3 & PGY2
A given team will be on call for 24 hours and will be off for 72 hours afterwards
Pass on rounds presence should be limited as much as possible to the absolutely necessary residents
If the work load is light, Chief on call will manage “ on site resident “requirements according to his / her best judgmentMarch 17, 2020 at 5:40 pm #2031Joni RobertsKeymasterMarch 18, 2020 at 6:30 am #2033AnonymousInactiveAttached is what UConn is doing. Thanks for sharing everyone!

PENN has 1/2 the residents (23 people) working one week at a time M-Su. The rest are at home for backup. During this time they are studying, doing research and participating in a fairly robust online didactics curriculum. The fellows are covering the ORs with the attendings and are not part of the coverage plan.
However, we just declared Level 3 Pandemic Emergency for 30 days so there is a high probability our residents will be pulled to cover other services.

March 29, 2020 at 9:11 am #2041Melissa WheelerKeymasterWe implemented 3 teams, 1 week on and 2 weeks off in terms of in hospital call/coverage. This way if someone gets sick, it has a built in 14 day quarantine time into the schedule. We only have 19 residents. The rest of the time they are at home studying, research and we are doing virtual lectures/discussions.
March 30, 2020 at 7:01 am #2042Lisa HernandezParticipantUF-Jax will start today with 3 teams,1 week on 2 weeks at home study to adhere to 14 quarantine if a team is compromised. Home teams have assigned curriculum including study modules in Ortho bullets and Restudy. Zoom lectures and check-ins.

Our program is currently split up in two teams until we need to split up more. Has anyone developed a COVID evaluation yet?
Thanks!
