Resident and Fellow Record Retention

Good Morning All:

I have files dating back to the 70s for Fellows (yes, believe it or not I have to verify that far back) and Resident files going back decades as well. I can’t find a definitive answer anywhere regarding how far back to keep the files. Our corporate policy doesn’t apply because our Residents aren’t associates and are visiting for Orth Rotation needs. Our Fellows are associates, however, our HR Policy states 10 years. However, I have to give verifications that go way back.

I truly would appreciate any feedback.
