    Good Afternoon!

This is my first time doing scheduling. Is a research rotation a requirement of ACGME or is it just based on the preference of the program?

    Thank you!

    Hi Sarah!

The ACGME requires a minimum of 60 days of protected research time during the course of residency. Here’s the citation from the ACGME Program Requirements for Orthopaedic Surgery:

IV.C.5.d) The program must provide each resident with at least 60 days of protected time for research. (Core)

    Hi All,

We do not have a research rotation.  The 60 days is ongoing during their rotations and is noted in the Block Diagram.  So there are different ways this requirement can me satisfied.

Is this for Residents or Fellows – the above 60 days?  We give our Fellows weekly Research Time.

We give our residents a two-block rotation (8 weeks)  in their PGY2 and PGY4 years.

    Hi Donna,

The 60 day minimum requirement is from the Residency Common Program Requirements.
