Dear all:
My GME Specialist is unable to answer my question, but I don’t want to reach out to ACGME unless necessary. Several of our faculty members take cases at a local surgery center several times a week and would like our residents to join them there. They are not a hospital affiliate and the center is owned by the physicians themselves. https://lakessurgerycenter.com/
I had a PLA signed and one of our Faculty members has agreed to serve as Site Director if needed, but I don’t know if a location reserved exclusively for clinical cases should be logged as a Participating Site or if there are other rules about it.
Have any of you had a similar experience? I would really appreciate your guidance as the residents will be rotating there starting in July.
Thank you in advance,

I actually just went through this. Yes, you have to do the paperwork and request from ACGME and their approval to add this site to your list. It was easy, just have to give the educational rationale for adding the site.

Thank you for the super quick reply! One more question: Did you have to have GMEC approval or is evidence of DIO approval enough?

March 20, 2019 at 11:06 am #1394ARCOSKeymasterI’ve recently went through the same thing. You also need to add this as a participating site on your PLA, which we had to have GMEC approval for, but this may be different at your institution?
March 20, 2019 at 11:31 am #1395ARCOSKeymasterMy residents will also start a new site in July but wasn’t sure the procedure to go forward so I reached out to Jennifer Luna from the ACGME. She was a huge help. Here is her contact just in case.
