Hi ARCOS Coordinators, we’ve had some residents express interest in developing a peer-to-peer feedback system. I’ve done a bit of research and I think it could be of value. We have a few ideas floating around so I figured I’d check in with everyone here first to see what other programs do. Do any of you have a formal system for peer-to-peer evaluation? If so, what do you use? Do residents utilize it? How do you encourage constructive criticism? Thanks!

We’ve been doing the peer to peer evaluations for some time now. At first the residents balked at doing them but after time my PD actually appreciates the amount of constructive criticism the evals give. They are more in detail than the faculty ones. The evals are done through New Innovations and completely anonymous. My PD does use the eval for the semi-annual meetings but does not show the actual eval to the resident, only mentions constructive criticism if there is a recurring theme in the comments. Of course with anything, I do have to remind residents to complete their evals.October 16, 2019 at 12:36 pm #1746Channon Cordes ColeParticipantWe have a peer to peer evaluation form which is distributed via Medhub at the end of rotations along with the other evaluation forms.

They seem to be more comfortable providing constructive feedback when they realize we will only share the pertinent details from the evaluation form during their semi-annual. And we do upload our evals the same into New Innov.
Here is a sample of the eval. We keep it short to encourage completion. It doesn’t print on the form, but we also include a section at the end for additional free text comments.
