    Greetings ARCOS Members!

One of our current board members, Kelsey Fitzpatrick, has accepted a position outside of Orthopaedics. As a result, he cannot remain on the ARCOS Board and has submitted his resignation. Please join us in thanking Kelsey for his contributions to the board and to ARCOS. We wish him well in his future endeavors!

ARCOS now has an immediate vacancy for a member-at-large. This new member-at-large will begin their term immediately upon voting by electronic ballot by current ARCOS membership. The term of this member will be five years and will expire at the conclusion of our annual meeting in 2025.

The ARCOS Board of Directors consists of 11 members, including the 5 officer positions of President, President-Elect, Immediate Past President, Secretary and Treasurer. Board members are required to attend two ARCOS plenary meetings per year, as well as the ARCOS annual meeting, for the duration of their term. The board meets during the AOA meeting in June, at AAOS headquarters in Rosemont in September, and at the annual meeting during the AAOS meeting. There are also a few conference calls during the year, especially leading up to the annual meeting.

In order to be considered for the position, candidates must:
    • Be a current member of ARCOS
    • Have attended at least one ARCOS annual meeting
    • Be a coordinator of an ACGME accredited residency or fellowship program

Those interested in running for this open position should:
    • Submit a letter of intent, current CV and photo
    • Submit a letter of financial support from your PD or Chair to participate in both the plenary and annual meetings for the 5-year term

As we are filling a vacated position, the turnaround time for this special election is approximately three weeks. The deadline for the letter of intent and the financial support letter, CV, and photo is February 28, 2020. Voting will take place by electronic ballot between March 2 and March 6. Provided the board receives at least one candidate and a quorum of voters, the new board member will be announced on Monday, March 9.

Serving on the ARCOS Board of Directors is a wonderful opportunity to get involved with an organization that has an impact on our responsibilities on a daily basis. We are sure that you would truly enjoy working with all of our wonderful board members.

I am very happy to take your questions and to tell you more about this opportunity. Please don’t hesitate to reach out!

    Thank you!
