Hi all,
Hope everyone is ready for the start of interview season! I’m wondering how others structure their interviews. We have always done four interview rooms, each with two committee members per room, and all the committee members see the same candidates. Would be interested in hearing how others have structured theirs. How many in a room? Chief residents alone or with an attending? Time per room? Do all of the committee members see the same candidates or it’s mixed up?
Thanks!
Courtney

Our PD has a room himself, our Chiefs have a room, and we pair up the faculty to separate rooms.
All rooms are going at the same time for 15 minutes and a 5 minute break in between each candidate (and break for lunch). All candidates rotate through all of our interview rooms. Also, our PGY1s are excused from their service during interviews and are assigned to a room, so they can bring the students to their next interview. I attached a sample of what one of our interview days looks like.Attachments:

We have been pairing the faculty by subspecialty; our chair and vice chair have a room and the chief residents are in a room to themselves.
Usually it is a 10 minute interview and 5 minute break in between. It runs pretty smooth. The chairman and PD meet with the group first thing in the morning to give brief talks and introduction.
Our residents will give tours of the hospital after the interview.
Our residents usually are around unless their is patient care needed to visit with the applicants and have lunch.
