    Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any “retirement gift” ideas? Our lead Research Director and wife are retiring after 27 years and my program is looking to gift them something. We tossed around getting them each a trophy/plaque, but my PD would like to gift something else due to being a big part of the program for so long.

Any ideas would be highly appreciated!

Our PD of 17 years retired in February. Our Medical Media Specialist and I put together a photobook of group photos, graduation pics and a page from each class he graduated. It took some gathering of pictures (emailing the alumni) and digging through old files, but the book was great! We had blank pages so that people could write notes, and we asked the alumni to sign on their pages. My plan was to use Shutterfly to print the book, but the MMS knew of another company. It was a hit! We were able to use Shutterfly Albums to share the photos with everyone as well.

A PD I worked with in another program stepped down after almost 30 years. I used this website, Memory Book Online | Collaborative Memory Books | Newlywords. to create a book of memories and sent it to our alumni. They uploaded pictures and wrote comments in the book. You do have the ability to edit what they have written (I had to correct several notations about retirement as he wasn’t retiring) and I could move things around so, for example the picture would be on the left page and what the author wrote could be on the right page. I was able to save a copy in a PDF as well as print a copy and we gave it to him at a reception at the society meeting.
