We recently received our continued pre-accreditation status from ACGME. One of our citations referred to our block schedule. They expect that each clinical rotation during PGY 2-5 be at least 2 month in length. When my residents are on Spine or Foot & Ankle it’s only 1 month. They never questioned this before. If they have to do 2 months of each, when do they have time for elective rotations?

Also, they said our hand rotation is too much hand (70% hand 30% plastic) and is considered an Orthopedic rotation. Anyone else have this issue?

Would anyone be willing to share their block schedule so I can get an idea how what everyone is doing?

    Thanks!

I’ve attached our block schedule for you to check out. Our PGY2-5s each do 5-ten week blocks. Our elective block is only for PGY5s. Hope this helps!

I am having issues with this and it was noted to us by the ACGME as well. I am in a One Year Fellowship Program with 3 Fellows. Their diagram isn’t applicable to our rotation schedule. Any Fellowship Programs care to share?

    Thanks,

    Donna

Attached is a copy of our block schedule. PGY2-5 years complete (5) 10-week rotations. PGY4&5 Residents do elective rotations. Hope this helps out as well!

Donna, we have a one-year sports medicine fellowship program and you’re right, the usual residency diagram isn’t applicable. This is the block diagram that we use and it has worked so far. Hope it helps.

    Thanks for the template 🙂

Our weekly schedule changes and they pick/choose where they want to be based on their service assignments that are quarterly. It hasn’t been an issue in the past until this year. I will look into additional formatting. Thanks again.
