    Hello All!

    Newbie here…I am trying to understand the ABOS time requirements so I can better advise my residents when they ask how travel/quarantine issues affect their residency with the coronavirus pandemic.

    I see the 50 wks max and at least 46 wks full-time education per year. Does this mean residents can miss up to 4 weeks of time per year or is it actually 6 weeks because there are 52 weeks in a year? I am making sure I would take their allowed PTO days into consideration as well.

    The rule of ABOS is 46 weeks full-time education, averaged over 5 years. This ensures ability for extra time away for maternity leave, or other special circumstances.
