    The Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is excited to offer a 1-year, fully funded Orthopedic Trauma Clinical Research Fellowship for motivated 2nd or 3rd year medical students starting in Spring/Summer 2025. This is a unique and exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in orthopedic trauma while strengthening your application for the competitive Orthopedic Surgery Match.

    As a fellow, you will collaborate with a dynamic team of investigators on a variety of cutting-edge projects. You’ll be involved in project design, IRB submissions, scientific literature reviews, data collection and analysis, and contribute to manuscript preparation and book chapters. You will gain invaluable research skills that will enhance your clinical and academic credentials.

    This fellowship is under the leadership of Dr. M. Kareem Shaath, an accomplished orthopedic surgeon and researcher with a rich history of mentoring successful fellows.

    In addition to the research experience, you will have the chance to engage with residents and surgeons from the Orlando Health Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program. You will attend resident lectures, observe cadaver lab sessions, and experience live surgeries. Furthermore, you will be actively involved in preparing abstracts for presentation at national and international conferences, with funding provided for these opportunities.
