    Colleagues,

I’m reaching out to learn more about how your program approaches faculty education and development.  Specifically I am interested in:

    • How often you hold development sessions
    • The format used (in-person vs virtual, monthly or quarterly meetings, big retreats, incoroporated into faculty meetings, etc)
    • The topics you prioritize
    • How you follow up on discussions to ensure they translate into meaningful changes
    • How you implement new ideas or initiatives
    • How outcomes are tracked
    • What strategies you have found effective for engaging faculty participation

Any insights, examples, or materials you’d be willing to share would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Kerwin,

We reserve 4 grand rounds sessions per year for faculty development sessions. We’ve had guest speakers talk about communication, physician well being, giving/receiving feedback, getting started in clinical research. All of these sessions have been held virtually since it allows more people to attend.

We also hold a one day off site faculty retreat every other year. We’ve brought in guest speakers there as well.

I’ll be honest though, I’m not sure we do a good job at following up to ensure we’re making meaningful changes.

    Thanks,

    Courtney
