    Good Morning,

I was asked if the DIO position is a required PAID position in the residency program. I looked in the program requirements and all that good stuff and couldn’t find anything. I’m sure I overlooked something. Does anyone know the answer to this?

    Thank you!

    Sarah,

DIO refers to the Designated Institutional Official and is a required position within the GME office, not individual programs.

    Have a wonderful day!

Thank you Cindy! Do you know if the DIO is required to be paid?

As far as I know, it’s a paid position. I’m not 100% sure if it’s ‘required’ to be paid, but I honestly can’t imagine anyone doing it without compensation.  That said, I’m at the airport heading to an ACGME meeting tomorrow and Friday—I’ll ask while I’m there and let you know for sure.

    Institutional Requirements: https://www.acgme.org/programs-and-institutions/institutions/institutional-application-and-requirements/

I glanced through them and didn’t see anything about required to be paid, just “sufficient support and dedicated time”
