Courtney MatlachKeymasterHi,
My program is currently in the process of applying for an increase in our resident complement with the ACGME. For those who have been through the process before, any tips for collecting the institutional case list? I gave the excel file to my business team, but they seem overwhelmed with the amount of data I am looking for.
Any other tips/advice for this process would be much appreciated!
Thanks,

Laurel LewisKeymasterHey Courtney,
I reached out to our ortho coders to ID the codes that were needed and added those to the spread sheet. It made getting the numbers for whomever does that in your institution a lot easier. If you have to gather info from other institutions, this is a better way to explain it to them, too. I have also gone through long lists and picked out the numbers that I needed. It’s not a fun process.
Maybe someone else has another idea??? 🙂
Best of luck!!

Joan GraeschParticipantMy PD went through the list of procedures and wrote the numerical codes on the ACGME spreadsheet for me. When my business manager pulled the procedural data, I asked her to put the data in numerical order. This helped to match our data to the codes on the ACGME spreadsheet. I color coded the departmental data spreadsheet- so I could add procedures from different locations as I compared the two lists. A very time consuming and tedious process, plus I had to get the data from the VA hospital by our campus. I just can’t tell you how happy I am that we were approved for a complement increase this last round- good luck Courtney!

Courtney MatlachKeymasterThanks for the responses, sounds like it’s just a tedious process. Glad I’m not alone!
