<p style=”font-weight: 400;”>The fellowship functions within a large community health system and a very busy community hospital and partners closely with the area’s Level I Trauma Center in St. Paul, MN.

    From the Program Director:
    <p style=”font-weight: 400;”>Dear Program Director & Program Coordinator:

<p style=”font-weight: 400;”>The University of Minnesota/HealthPartners has an unexpected vacancy for the Geriatric Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship for 2021-2022. Please forward this to any graduating residents, Ortho colleagues or those who may be considering additional training.

<p style=”font-weight: 400;”>This fellowship is located in the Twin Cities of Minnesota and offers an exceptional multi-disciplinary orthopaedic fellowship experience focused specifically on the unique challenges of orthopaedic care in the older fracture patient. We are the first in the nation to formally establish such a training opportunity, which has been certified by the International Geriatric Fracture Society (IGFS).

<p style=”font-weight: 400;”>The fellowship functions within a large community health system and a very busy community hospital, Methodist Hospital, and partners closely with the area’s Level I Trauma Center, Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. This, in combination with being a tertiary care referral center, results in a very high volume of orthopaedic fracture cases in the older adult.

<p style=”font-weight: 400;”>The faculty at Methodist Hospital, the University of Minnesota, and HealthPartners, who, in addition to myself, are involved in the fellowship training, include the orthopaedic trauma and adult reconstruction teams, and a multi-disciplinary team of national leaders in geriatric care (including geriatricians, palliative care specialists, and endocrinologists).

<p style=”font-weight: 400;”>The Geriatric Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship has a dedicated fellowship coordinator and an active clinical research team. These resources provide plenty of opportunity for academic achievement with guided support and mentoring.

<p style=”font-weight: 400;”>For further inquiry regarding our program, please contact myself or Lisa Schroder at Lisa.K.Schroder@Healthpartners.com or 574-835-5174.

    <p style=”font-weight: 400;”> Sincerely,

    <p style=”font-weight: 400;”>Julie A. Switzer, MD, FAOA, FAAOS
